OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT HOLDS VIRTUAL WORKSHOP FOR MANAGEMENT STAFF ON NEW NORMAL.

In continuation of its quest to build capacity of its workforce, Ogun State government has commenced virtual enlightenment workshop on the ‘New Normal’ for management staff of Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), to prepare them for challenges and to impact the economy of the State positively.

The State Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Ottun, while delivering the keynote address and declaring open the training, said the programme was timely, especially at this pandemic period, as it would help in the implementation of policies and programmes of Government.

Speaking on the theme, “Innovative Thinking and Management in the Post-Covid era”, Alhaja Ottun noted that ‘’training of Ogun workforce, especially the management staff at this period is not to only provide necessary skill for the staff, but to improve quality of output towards meeting the expectation of the people.

“My sincere gratitude to our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for believing in the excellence, Ogun State public service is known for. No doubt, since May 2019, he has not only continued to initiate workers’ friendly policies, and programmes, but also support staff development through prompt approval of trainings.

‘’Having this virtual training bring to the fore, that there is a new normal as dictated by this pandemic and it suggest that the public service is to work in the new environment, using new methods to achieve its objectives. This virtual seminal is a representation of the government’s continued efforts to ensure the development of the public service”, she said.

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, said the workshop was the first in the series of trainings being organised by the Government, to equip the State workers with knowledge and skills, in order to ensure a vibrant workforce in the face of Covid-19 pandemic challenges.

She said one of the adaptation of the original training plans was the adoption of online training, to ensure continuous development of the workforce as it now obtain world-wide.

In his lecture, the facilitator, Mr. Jude Iyamabo, said everyone must rise to the occasion, by ‘’thinking and acting new’’, which according to him, would help save the world, adding that the objective of the training was to have an overview of post Covid-19, understand the challenges and opportunities it brought and provide for participants an opportunity for Innovative thinking.
