The Ogun state government has tentatively fixed august 14th for the reopening of worship centers across the state

Governor Dapo abiodun made this known  midweek while updating newsmen about the strategies put in place to flatten the global pandemic and review of the ongoing lockdown in the state

The governor who explained that the weekend lockdown continued until august 14 said the government has put in place stringent measures that must be met by the various worship centers before reopening date

He informed that part of the directives given to the ogun state chapter of Christian association of Nigeria, CAN and the league of imams and Alfas include provision of necessary materials that will aid the precautionary measures against the spread of the pandemic adding that no religious service should be extended more than one and half hour

Thanking the religious leaders for their understanding and support, the governor warned that any worship center that contravene the directive would be closed down

On resumption of school, the governor directed that all students in both the primary and secondary schools be given automatic promotion to the next class during the next academic session adding that in accordance with the federal government directives for the reopening of schools for children in final classes, the government has forwarded a risk assessment form to both public and private schools to assess their readiness and close identified gaps before resumption of academic activities

Rolling out some of the conditions for reopening of schools, governor abiodun said the government has put in place facilities to meet covid 19 preventive criteria which must be met by both public and private schools include a mandatory virtual training on prevention of covid 19 for schools administrative heads and teachers, decontamination of the schools, establishment of sick bays and isolation rooms in each school among others

While assuring that the government would continue to create enabling environment for the protection of lives of the residents, the governor emphasised that henceforth it has become mandatory for every resident of the state to wear face mask as failure to do so will attract six month imprisonment without option of fine
