OGUN TO SUSTAIN LEADING POSITION IN PALM OIL PRODUCTION- AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER, ODEDINA

The Ogun state government says it will continue to encourage palm oil production in the state in order to sustain its position as one of the largest producers of palm oil in the country

The Commissioner for Agriculture,  Dr Adeola Odedina gave the assurance midweek while inspecting the Apoje palm oil processing Mill alongside Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN,Officers at ljedu North Local government area of the state.

According to him,the resuscitation of Apoje oil palm mill is necessary as it has been underutilised by the past administrations.

He submitted that the processing Mill with the assistance of the CBN would help to boost the economy of the state adding that Apoje palm oil processing which occupied 8 thousands hectares of land would serve as an avenue for the state to improve on its production with the support of CBN.

In her remarks,the head, development finance office, CBN, Abeokuta Mrs Oluyemisi  Olukoya said she carried out the inspection to have on the spot assessment of the palm oil processing Mill and to see how CBN could support the mill to be more effective

She assured that the apex bank would help to revive the mill by making Ogun state one of the largest producers of palm in the South Western states.
