Liverpool have ended their 30 year wait to win a 19th English Premier League title as Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2 – 1 on Thursday night.
Despite not being in action the Reds won the EPL title their first since the 1989 -1990 season.
The Jurgen Klopp tutored side were one win away from lifting the EPL trophy but their work was made easy as Chelsea defeated 10 man City at the Stamford Bridge.
The Blues win over the citizens left Liverpool with an unassailable lead, having 86 points to Man City’s 63.
That means with seven games to end the season, Man City cannot catch up with Liverpool even if the Reds lose all remaining matches, a scenario that is most unrealistic considering their performance so far.
A City win would have delayed Liverpool’s celebration before both teams meet next week at the Ethiad in a top of the table clash.
With measures put in place to combat the coronavirus pandemic Liverpool are unlikely to partake in any of the usual public events such as an open bus parade around the city with their fans.
