The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the formation of Amotekun security outfit by the southwest governors as the best way to tackle insecurity in the region.
Governor Abiodun who let this out while fielding question from newsmen in Sagamu said the birth of Amotekun was conceived during the last security summit organized by the development agenda for Western Nigeria, Dawn, in Ibadan, Oyo State as a means of eradicating problem of kidnapping, robbery, incessant attack of farmers, cultism and to check influx of aliens that may hamper the growth of the region.
He pointed out that all governors in the zone agreed to support the security outfit with patrol vehicles and other security apparatus to make it more effective while the local hunters were also drafted into the group to assist the officials of Nigeria Police Force with necessary information due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
He expressed optism that with the Amotekun in place the problem of insecurity in the Western region will be a thing of the past
The governor called on the people of the region to support the initiative for adequate protection of lives and property.
