The menace of gender based violence could only be tackled effectively if Government put necessary legislation in place.
State Governments should also open an offender register for perpetrators in curbing the menace.
A professor of Agriculture Extension and Chairperson Gender-Development Initiative, Professor Rufina Olubunmi Ashimolowo advocated this while featuring on OGBC personality programme, Sunday morning live on FM.
She highlighted slavery, wife battering, intimidation at work, prostitution, rape, denial of basic amenities as part of factors that passed as violence against women.
Professor Ashimolowo who made it known that there are many laws protecting women against violence however called for proper implementation.
