The Ogun State Government is stepping up efforts in checkmating the spread of cholera.


The Ogun State government has assured members of the public that all hands are on deck in checkmating the spread of cholera outbreak which affected some areas in Abeokuta metropolis.

The permanent secretary, ministry of health, DR Adesanya Ayinde made the remarks while speaking with OGBC Staff Reporter, John Teidi this Monday in Abeokuta.

According to him, for now, The situation has brought under control, saying no death has been recorded since the death of the initial five persons.

Dr Ayinde explained that some of the people taken to the hospital for contracting the disease are responding to treatment and will soon be discharged.

He explained that officials of the ministry are on ground sensitizing the people on how to maintain an hygienic environment.

Dr Adesanya advised the public to always keep their environment clean and make sure their food are properly cooked and the water properly treated.

He said that officials of the ministry of health have started visiting most of the water producing companies in the State to ascertain the level of compliance to environmental guidelines to achieve a healthy State.
