The Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, has charged the newly sworn-in Customary Court Presidents and its Members to discharge their duties to the best of their knowledge and in accordance with the rule of law.

Justice Dipeolu stated this at the swearing-in of 30 Customary Court Presidents and Members, held at the new Ogun State Judiciary Complex, Kobape, Abeokuta.

She noted that the appointment was aimed at bringing justice closer to the people through administering of the Customary Court Law of the State, as well as interprets the law, as it relates to land, inheritance, marriage and more.

“They have gone through series of tests and have been found worthy, I pray that God in His infinite mercy will grant them the grace and strength to discharge their duties according to their oath of office”, Justice Dipeolu stated.

She said that, in actualization of the State’s agenda to decongest the prisons, the Intervention Week would commence at Sagamu Magisterial District.

“This Intervention Week is borne out of the desire to fast-track cases and dispose them speedily. The idea is that the Magistrates will sit longer than usual, to dispose all old and new cases in their docket during that week”, Justice Dipeolu explained.

The Chief Judge urged the new appointees not to forget the motto of Ogun State Judiciary, which is, “hard work and Result”, in the discharge of their duties, saying, “the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand”‎.

She admonished them to shun corruption, laziness and favoritism and embrace transparency, as well as uphold the oath of office and dispense justice without fear or favour, as any unethical acts would not be condoned.
